What is the difference between a family trip and a sporty trip?

A family trip favors gentle progression, adapted obstacles, less walking and optional jumps. A sporty trip can be longer, more vertical, more aquatic or more demanding depending on the chosen canyon.

Level & safety

Age, level, swimming and safety in canyoning

From what age can children go canyoning?

The minimum age depends on the canyon, the child’s body shape, comfort in water and the conditions of the day. Some discovery trips can be adapted to children, while more sporty canyons require a higher minimum age. Always indicate the children’s ages when booking.

Do you need to know how to swim?

Yes, you need to be comfortable in the water. You do not need to be an expert swimmer, but canyoning includes aquatic sections, swimming or immersion. The neoprene wetsuit helps you float, but it does not replace water confidence.

Are jumps mandatory?

No. Jumps are not mandatory. Depending on the canyon, the group’s level and the conditions, they can be adapted, avoided or replaced by another way of progressing. The goal is to enjoy the trip without unnecessary pressure.

I am afraid of heights. Can I go canyoning?

It depends on how strong your fear of heights is and on the canyon chosen. Some routes are very playful and not very intimidating, while others include more abseils or vertical sections. Tell us before booking so we can guide you toward a suitable canyon.

Is canyoning dangerous?

Canyoning is an outdoor activity that requires attention. Weather conditions, water flow, the group’s level and obstacles are taken into account before each trip. The route can be adapted, postponed or replaced if the conditions are not favorable.

Equipment & preparation

What equipment should you bring for a canyoning trip?

What equipment is provided?

Technical equipment is provided: neoprene wetsuit, helmet, harness and all equipment needed to progress through the canyon. The equipment is adapted to the chosen route and the day’s conditions.

What should I bring on the day of the trip?

Bring a swimsuit, a towel, closed shoes suitable for water and a change of clothes. Avoid valuables and come with simple belongings.

What shoes do you need for canyoning?

You need closed shoes with a good sole: sports trainers, trail shoes or light hiking shoes. Sandals and very thin water shoes are not suitable for slippery rocks.

Do you get cold in the water?

Water can be cool in the canyon, but the neoprene wetsuit is designed to limit the cold. The choice of canyon, duration and organization are adapted according to the season and the group’s profile.

Can I wear glasses, contact lenses or bring a camera?

Glasses can be worn with a strap, but there is always a risk of losing them. Contact lenses are possible with caution. For phones or cameras, use only waterproof, well-attached equipment, under your own responsibility.

Health & water

Precautions related to freshwater and leptospirosis

Are there any health precautions to know about in canyoning?

Canyoning takes place in freshwater and natural environments. As with other outdoor aquatic activities, it is recommended to protect wounds, avoid drinking canyon water and consult a doctor in case of unusual symptoms after the trip.

What is leptospirosis?

Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease that can be transmitted through contact with contaminated freshwater, especially through wounds or mucous membranes. The risk remains limited, but it justifies simple precautions: protect wounds, rinse after the activity and avoid practicing with an open wound.
